Clothing Drive Organizers Looking For Donation Recipients

The Brookline Commission for Women is searching for a donation center to benefit from their annual children's clothing drive.

The Brookline Commission for Women is looking forward to their 9th Annual Children’s Clothing Drive in the coming months. The commission is currently focused on selecting a donation center that will take all of the donations they receive.

The date and location are still being determined, but committee members are looking to hold the clothing drive at the Community Room in the Brookline Public Safety Building where it was held last year in late September.

The lead organizer is Commissioner Sonal Jhaveri. In previous years, Commissioner Casey Hatchett fulfilled the role.

The commission is planning what will be collected and who they will be collecting it for. In previous years, the Commission collected for donation centers like Cradles to Crayons and Eastern Service Workers, but they are looking for additional organizations they could possibly donate to this year.

According to the commission, the centers it has previously used are looking for specific clothing, so commissioners would like to find a donation center that will take the majority of various clothing they collect this year. They want to decide on the organization before they decide on other factors.

“Whoever we are collecting on behalf of should have a say in what we collect,” said Treasurer Cheryl Snyder.

Although plans are in the early stages of development, the commission is still looking toward their main goal.

“We want to make sure the clothing goes to people in need,” said Co-Chair Chris Chanyasulkit.
