DON'T Turn on Red: Brookline Police Log
Here are some excerpts from this week's police logs.

The following is information derived from the Brookline Police logs from April 11-13. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
April 11

Traffic Accident
On April 11th, 2017 Officers monitoring traffic in Coolidge Corner observed a number plate displayed an expired status of January of 2016. In addition, the drivers side brake light did not illuminate while stopped. Officers conducted a traffic stop on Beacon St and after checking with the RMV it was determined that the vehicle had no insurance. The operator was I issued Mass uniform citation for operating revoked registration, operating uninsured motor vehicle and defective brake light. The vehicle was subsequently towed by Perfection Towing.

On Tuesday 4/11/2017 Officers responded to 145 Freeman St for a report of a traffic accident with no injuries. Upon arrival the Officers were given accounts as to what had happen by each of the drivers. One vehicle had middle and front right damage. The second vehicle had heavy left side, left front and left rear damage. One vehicle was towed. During the investigation it was discovered that one of the operators had an outstanding warrant and he was placed under arrest.
Fraud
On April 11, 2017 I, Officers responded to an address on Kent Street for a fraud report. The victim reports she was shopping online and attempted to purchase an item, but her card was declined. At that point in time the victim used a banking App on her cell phone to check her account balance, only to find it was negative several hundred dollars. The victim was provided with the Credit Bureau Fraud Department phone numbers and informed of the website www.identitytheft.org to help assist with the process for reporting and protecting her identity.
Break and Enter
On April 11, 2017, Brookline Detectives responded to an address on Highland Rd for report of Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle. The victim reports several items taken from the vehicle. The Detectives took items to process for finger prints.
On April 11, 2017, Officers responded to an address on Highland Rd for a report of Break and Enter of Motor Vehicle. The victim reports hearing his garage door opening around 4am and he went to the window to see if he could see anything. The victim reports seeing a male, approximately 6 feet tall, leaving his driveway and head towards his neighbor's driveway. After checking his vehicle the victim reports things were moved by nothing was missing.
April 12
THEFT
On 04/12/2017, Officers, while assigned to a traffic post at Brookline High School, were approached by a student who reported that someone had just stolen his wallet. The suspect was wearing a red hat and black jacket. He ran down the hallway and out the Welland Road exit door of the school. Several units responded to the area, but were unable to locate anyone matching the description of the suspect. High School security was notified.
ASSIST ANOTHER AGENCY
On 4/12/16 at approximately 9:55pm, Brookline dispatch advised all units to be on the lookout for a Ford Taurus sedan color gray, last seen on Pleasant St in Brookline. Multiple units acknowledged the transmission and one Officer radioed that he had the vehicle in front of him. A traffic stop was conducted in Brookline Village. The vehicle had darkly tinted windows thru which it was difficult to see the occupants. The occupants were asked to exit the vehicle to which they complied and were cooperative with the officers. Boston University Police Department officers arrived on scene. The BUPD Officers believed the subjects may be involved in a check cashing scheme which has been prevalent in that area. BUPD wanted to identify the men and did not wish to pursue any further actions at that time. Both parties were identified by the BUPD Officers and sent on their way without further incident.
April 13
WARRANT ARREST
On 13 April 2017, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle they observed make a left turn onto Washington St ( from Beacon)through a red light. That intersection is a posted "no turn on red." After a license and Warrants check through the DMV it was determined that the operator had an outstanding warrant out of the Waltham district Court for Operating After Suspension and other various municipal offenses. The operator was placed under arrest, and transported to the station. The vehicle was towed.
