Driver Hospitalized After Fleeing Scene From Brookline Vehicle Fire

The car caught fire after crashing into a large tree head-on.

BROOKLINE, MA — A possible suspect has been apprehended and hospitalized after a vehicle crashed into a tree and went ablaze in the early hours of the morning on Friday.

Firefighters and police officers responded to the scene at Aspinwall Avenue shortly before 6 a.m. to find the front of the vehicle had crashed into a large tree and was engulfed in flames. Brookline Police Sergeant Robert Disario told Patch that the driver reportedly fled the scene but was located not far away from the scene of the incident. He has since been taken to the hospital while the incident remains under investigation by traffic detectives.

The fire department was reportedly able to fully extinguish the blaze before it spread to any of the nearby homes.
