Drunk Man Pushes Older Man, Pees On Store: Brookline Police Logs

Just a sample of the types of calls the Brookline Police responded to this week.

BROOKLINE, MA — All of the following is from Brookline Police log or online blog. They are excerpts taken from the public police log and represent a portion of what kinds of calls the police respond to. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuesday, November 28

Drunk guy at the grocery store pushes older man, pees on wall: Nathan Fern, 57, of Boston, was arrested in connection with assaulting an employee while drunk at the Harvard Street Stop and Shop, he was also charged with indecent exposure. Fern walked into the grocery store, tried to talk to someone and when the customer ignored him, pushed the older man who told employees he already had difficulty walking. After Fern was escorted out of the store he turned around, dropped his pants and peed on the outside of the building.

Package thefts: A Parkway Road resident reported a package was delivered but when she got home she found an empty box that had been torn open and its contents removed. Officers will request the video surveillance of the area where the box had been delivered. Something similar happened on Brook Street that same day.

Missing Person: A Westbourne Terrace resident went missing. Local police departments and hospitals were notified of the missing person. The missing person is described as a Chinese National, who only speaks Mandarin and was last seen wearing a Green Plaid long sleeve shirt with a Black jacket. He was wearing Black pants with Black Shoes.

Vandals: Someone reported a pump room door at a building on Beacon Street had been damaged.

iPhone stolen: Someone came into the station to report that while she was in a meeting at the high school her iPhone was stolen.

Wednesday, Nov. 29

Traffic stop turns argumentative: Janee Jones, 33, of Brighton was arrested after an officer pulled her over for out tail lights revealed she did not have a drivers license. Police said when they arrested her she became argumentative. It turned out the passenger, Kevin Edwards, 33, also of Brighton was arrested because police ran his name and found he had two warrants out for his arrest, one out of Dorchester for possession of drugs, resisting arrest and assault and battery on a police officer and then another warrant out of Brookline district court for assault and battery with a deadly weapon.

Timber: Someone called police to report a delivery truck had damaged a tree on Dummer Street.

Stolen: Someone reported her wallet was stolen on Boylston Street.

Package thefts: A Parkway Road resident called police to report they came home to find two ripped open packages, the contents were taken.

Attempted package theft: Officers responded to an address on Harvard Ave of two males attempting to steal packages. It was reported to officers that a resident observed unknown males taking packages from her front porch. A description was given to the responding officers and given to surrounding units.

Thursday, Nov. 30

Bitten: A Babcock Street resident reported she was bit by a dog.

Uber driver assaulted?: An Uber driver called to report that while they were at Essex Street a passenger assaulted him because of the route he was taking.

Friday, December 1

Indecent exposure?: Branden Garnett, 34 of Boston was arrested on Boylston Street to investigate a possible indecent exposure behind the Little Children's Schoolhouse. An MBTA green line operator of a passing train called police to report he had seen a man in the parking lot who he believed to be completely naked. When police arrived they found Garnett with no shirt on, but with gray sweatpants and sneakers. He told police he was there working out. Police radioed Brookline Police Dispatch to query Branden Garnett
and his name came back as having a default warrant out for his arrest from Melrose District Court for disorderly conduct and possession of drugs. Police said they arrested him for that, but were still reviewing surveillance footage and were attempting to get back in touch with the MBTA person who called in the first place to determine whether to charge the man with anything else.

December 2

Traffic, warrant: Kolleen Valente, 37, of Malden was arrested on Commonwealth Avenue just east of Carlton Street after a police officer saw the driver using her cell phone in front of her face and then driving over the lines. When he stopped the car he found the driver had a default warrant from Malden for Uttering False Prescription, possession of two types of ADHD medication classified as amphetamines, possession of a Class E Drug (2 counts) for possessing loose nalaxone tablets without a valid prescription, as well as possessing Celexa prescribed to another. She was also charged with driving on a suspended license, running a red light, marked lane violation and improper use of cell phone while driving.
