Career Moves Presents: Spring Into Action

Our Spring 2012 workshop series is all about making the best of your job search. We will help you update your resume and hone your interviewing skills, discover your transferable skills and communicate your brand.  Also, learn  how to use social media to help you  find your next job.  The fee for each workshop is $15 if paid at least 24 hours in advance, or $20 at the door.  Pre-registration is required.

Wednesday, April 11th, 12:00-2:00 PM - Mock Interview Clinic, Judy Bottkol & Martha Plotkin

Gain valuable  tips  before your next interview.  Work with staff and fellow participants to practice your interviewing techniques and to develop a style of your own.   Limited to eight  participants.                                 

 

Thursday, April 26th, 12:00-2:00­ PM - Résumé Clinic, George Zeller & Judy Bottkol

Can your résumé pass a recruiter's 30-second scan and make it to the YES pile?  If you're not sure, come to this clinic.   Each participant will have their résumé critiqued by the group and by JVS staff. Limited to eight participants.  Please bring tencopies of your résumé.

Do you have questions about this  all-important social media site? We'll discuss the ins and outs of LinkedIn, including how to build a network, use groups, explore company information, look for jobs ,and  more. Open to all levels.

Have you spent hundreds of hours online hunting and applying for jobs with few or no results? In this workshop, you'll get tips on using the Internet effectively.  We'll discuss : protecting your privacy, researching industries, and using appropriate  etiquette when applying on-line.  .  We'll also talk about creative approaches to  targeting companies with job openings, and inventive strategies for getting the interview and the job offer. We'll also give you a list of good websites to use.

Discover your transferable skills aided by this card sort.  IDENTIFY your range of skills, DETERMINE which one you want to play a major role in your work, ORGANIZE them into skill sets which connect to occupational areas and DETERMINE which of these areas to explore.
