The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) will offer free five-minute neck and shoulder massages to the public during the Lowell Folk Festival as part of its cross-country mobile tour raising awareness of the health benefits of massage.
AMTA massage therapists will be available for massages and provide information to the public about the health benefits of massage, which new research has shown to help relieve back pain, osteoarthritis of the knee, inflammation after exercise and improve quality of life in patients with fibromyalgia.
AMTA is a professional association of more than 56,000 members. AMTA professional members have demonstrated a level of skill and knowledge through education and/or testing and must meet continuing education requirements to retain membership.
