Walking Wilderness: A City Girl Hikes the Pacific Crest Trail

The Pacific Crest Trail starts on the Mexico-California border and finishes 2,650 miles later in Manning Park, Canada. The first 700 miles of the trail meander through desert, then travel through the snowy High Sierras, and continue into northern California. The trail rambles through Oregon, cuts straight across the state of Washington, and finishes eight miles over the border in Canada. It offers staggering views of mega mountains - Whitney, Shasta, Hood, Rainier - and others less acclaimed. It passes by more than a thousand lakes, crosses over sixty major mountain passes, travels through seven national parks, twenty-four national forests, and thirty-three wilderness areas. Join Boston native Anne O'Regan as she describes, via story and slides, her five-month hike on the Pacific Crest Trail. Averaging between 20 to 30 miles a day, Anne began her journey in April and finished in late September, 2010.
