Boston Man Arrested For Slapping Woman's Rear: Brookline Police

Police said a man was arrested after a woman reported he came up to her and slapped her rear end while she was walking in Brookline.

BROOKLINE, MA — This evening two women were walking down Francis Street when a man came up and slapped the bottom of one of them. They quickly reported it to police who found the man they described and arrested him.

The two women in their 20s later told police they were momentarily shocked at what had happened. Then, one of them grabbed her cell phone and took a picture of the man. When he saw her do this, he raised his fist in the air at her, she later told police.

The friend of the woman who was slapped called police and described the man as black, in his late 30s, wearing a blue shirt with red stripes and white pants and carrying a trash bag. She said the man had come up from behind them, mumbled something and then slapped one of the women's rear ends.

Police found someone matching that description shortly after near the corner of Sewall and St. Paul Avenue. The women positively identified the man as the one who they said slapped one of them without permission.

Police then arrested Thomas Wooten, 51, of East Newton St., in Boston, and charged him at 4:41 p.m. with Indecent Assault and Battery Person Over 14 and Assault.

This comes after another woman reported she was grabbed in a private part near the corner of Gibbs and Naples roads. Police said they are still investigating that incident and were not able to say whether the two were connected as this time.

The Department of Justice defines sexual assault as "any type of sexual contact or behavior that occurs without the explicit consent of the recipient."

According to USLegal.com indecent assault is an assault that is sexual in nature and without consent. It is considered a sex crime.
