As the Brookline Advisory Subcommittee determines the zoning and general by-laws of adult use marijuana establishments, NETA is ready to welcome new patients and customers.
New England Treatment Access (NETA), a medical marijuana establishment in town, plans to capitalize on the recreational adult use of marijuana. Meanwhile, the Brookline Advisory Subcommittee is still trying to determine where and how marijuana businesses will be regulated in town.
“Our patients in the state's Medical Marijuana program will remain our top priority, and we will continue to offer the top quality products and services that have made NETA the go-to medical marijuana dispensary in Massachusetts,” said a representative of NETA.
Beginning July, NETA said it planned to start serving adult recreational use customers.
The committee voted on putting a 200-foot buffer between each marijuana establishment. This entails that no other establishment can be within 200 feet of another marijuana establishment.
“Sitting of marijuana establishments is best addressed through zoning measures, said Brookline’s Town Counsel Patty Correa in a recent advisory committee meeting.
Committee members weren’t clear on whether or not NETA would be affected by the buffer placed on marijuana establishments. Members of the committee said they were not sure if NETA would stay medicinal or become recreational.
According to the team members at NETA, they are not exempt from any laws or requirements pertaining to zoning. NETA will become a recreational facility as well as continuing to serve their medicinal use patients.
