Local French Bakery Opening Arlington Location
The business specializes in traditional French breads and pastries, including baguettes, naturally leavened breads, croissants, and brioche.
ARLINGTON, MA — A French bakery is expanding with a new café coming soon to Arlington.
Colette Bakery is preparing to open at 681 Massachusetts Ave. sometime in September, Nathalie Beddiar told Patch. The location will feature approximately 20 seats and offer customers a place to sit down for coffee, croissants and other pastries in a French bakery-café setting.
Customers will be able to choose from the bakery's usual selection of artisan breads, viennoiseries and pastries, along with sandwiches and a wide selection of hot and cold beverages.

"The space will have approximately 20 seats, so it will be a little different from some of our other locations and will give customers the opportunity to stay and enjoy the café atmosphere," Beddiar told Patch.
The Arlington storefront will become the latest addition to Colette's growing Boston footprint. Nathalie and Franck Beddiar moved from Toulouse, France, to the Boston area in 2017 before opening their first bakery at 509 Main St. in Medford in 2020. The family-run business later expanded to 465 Main St. in Melrose in 2022 and 517 Columbus Ave. in Boston's South End.

Colette specializes in traditional French breads and pastries, including baguettes, naturally leavened breads, croissants, brioche, éclairs, tarts, and kouign-amann. The bakery uses French ingredients and traditional baking techniques, and its croissants and other baked goods have earned recognition since the original Medford location opened.
The Beddiar family has continued to expand its French culinary businesses beyond Colette. Nathalie and Franck opened Atelier Colette, a French chocolaterie on Beacon Hill, in 2023, offering chocolates made in-house, including bonbons, chocolate bars and coated nuts.
An exact opening date for the Arlington bakery has yet to be announced. Beddiar told Patch the business is also beginning the hiring process for the new location.
"We're very excited to become part of the Arlington community and are looking forward to opening our doors soon," Beddiar said.
