Raul Fernandez Video Interview on New Task Force
Fernandez is a Brookline Select Board member and the Select Board's Task Force's chair to Reimagine Policing in Brookline.

Last week, Raul Fernandez was interviewed for this publication’s new video program, “BrooklineHub In-Depth.” Fernandez is a Brookline Select Board member and the Select Board’s Task Force's chair to Reimagine Policing in Brookline. On March 2, the task force presented its final report during a Select Board meeting. At the March 2 meeting, the Select Board’s Committee on Policing Reforms, chaired by Select Board Chair Bernard Green, presented its final report.
The Select Board’s Task Force to Reimagine Policing in Brookline took a resident survey on policing, held public hearings, and met with smaller groups of community stakeholders. As explained by Select Board Member Raul Fernandez in his “BrooklineHub In-depth” interview, the committee's recommendation to the community is to form a new Town of Brookline department, presently called Brookline Forward. Brookline Forward would respond to various non-criminal or violent situations with a team of social workers instead of armed officers.
There will be a Select Board Public Hearing this evening to discuss the Select Board’s Task Force to Reimagine Policing and the Select Board’s Committee on Policing Reforms.
