Burglary Suspect Jumps Out Of 2nd Story Window, Into Dumpster To Evade Arlington Police
Arlington Police arrested a man they said broke into a home and then jumped out of the window and into a dumpster in an attempt to get away.

ARLINGTON, MA — Early Sunday morning an Arlington Police Officer was making a routine building check on Fairmont Street for a resident who had asked police to check up on their home while they were away when the officer noticed something wasn't quite right. He noticed a bicycle near the sliding glass door and knew from previous checks of the home that there had been no bike there earlier. He took his flashlight and shined it inside and something moved. According to homeowners, no one was supposed to be there, and it was just after 2 a.m.
A man came to the door but ignored police commands to show his hands, instead digging around inside his backpack for something, according to the police report. He then disappeared upstairs. Police started to chase him up the stairs, while other police surrounded the home.
But the man, Oscar Alexander Ayala, 23, of Everett jumped out a second story window and ran off in an attempt to escape police. He didn't get far. Police chased him then used a K-9 to find him hiding in a dumpster down the road at 98 Fairmont Street.

As they were taking him to the car, he wiggled free and started to run away, yet again, but police caught up to him and arrested Ayala and charged him with burglary, resisting arrest and carrying a dangerous weapon. (They found a large hunting knife in his bag).
"I commend the officers who responded to this case for their quick thinking and strong police work to apprehend this suspect without incident," Chief Frederick Ryan said. "This resident did the right thing by requesting that police check on their home while they were away. I would recommend that all residents request a premise check if they are going to be gone for an extended period of time."
