Termite Rage, Injured Hawk And Drunks: Brookline Police Logs

Here's a sample of the types of calls that came into the Brookline Police Department in the past week.

BROOKLINE, MA— The following are taken from the public Brookline Police log. Remember just because something was reported, doesn't mean that's the way it shook out.

Monday, July 16:

  • Blackmail scam: A Griggs Terrace resident called to report he just received a letter in the mail attempting to blackmail him into giving money in bitcoin.
  • Where to park? An Ackers Ave resident came into the police station complaining that they had a permit to park in the Heath School parking lot overnight, but it's full.
  • Did you mean to do that?: Someone came into the police station to report there was a car on Powell Street that had the back door left open. They said they closed it but now they want to let the owner know.

Tuesday, July 17:

  • To get to work: A Vernon Street resident called to ask for help getting to work.
  • Special attention: Police gave Sears Road some special attention.
  • No Injury: A DPW truck 'made contact' with a parked car on Monmouth Court. No injuries were reported.

Wednesday, July 18:

  • Found: Someone called to report he may have seen the man who was reported missing for more than a week.
  • Injured: Someone reported there was a hawk with a broken wing in the parking lot behind a building on Fisher Avenue.

  • Stolen: A Freeman Street resident called to report she's missing a bag.

Thursday, July 19:

  • Alert: Brookline Police got an alert that a motion detector went off in the kitchen at Golden Temple Restaurant in Washington square at 5:10 a.m.
  • Abandoned: Someone called 911, but the dispatcher reported only hearing static. The phone call came from Citizens Bank on Harvard Street at 3:52 a.m.
  • Not supposed to do that: Someone on Centre Street called at 6:21 a.m. to report a violation of the town's noise bylaw. They reported a big white truck was making a delivery before they were supposed to.

Friday, July 20

  • Missing: The father of a 15 year old reported his son was missing.
  • Not supposed to be there: Brookline Police assisted with a report of a car stuck on the tracks on Comm Ave.

Saturday, July 21:

  • Fireworks? Someone called to report they thought they heard two loud pops coming from around Larz Anderson Park. They said it could possibly be fireworks. Police said they couldn't find anything.
  • Baby bird: Someone on High Street reported an injured baby bird behind the building.
  • Shh: A Bartlett Crescent resident called to report there was a loud party after midnight.

Sunday, July 22:

  • Drunk people: At 2:49 a.m. an intoxicated person was transported to the hospital from Beacon Street. Then at 6:37 a.m. someone else reported a drunk man was asleep at a swing on Stetson Street that man was also taken to a hospital.
  • Everyone on the street can hear you: Someone called to report there was loud talking outside somewhere on Englewood Avenue that was keeping them up at 4:11 a.m.
  • Stolen: Someone from Boston Police called to report a larceny at the CVS at 900 Comm Ave. Two white men in their 40s were reported leaving the shop.

Monday, July 23:

  • Termite rage?: A driver of a Braman Termite and Pest truck called to report a passerby punched and cracked his passenger window around 7:04 a.m.
  • Crash: A passerby called to report a car hit a sign near the corner of Boylston and Buckminster Road.
  • Stolen: Someone on St. Paul Street called to report their personal laptop, phone and iPad were taken in the past three days.
