Traffic Advisory for Brookline on Thursday

As move-in day coincides with the first day of school in town, be aware of these traffic tips when driving through Brookline.

BROOKLINE, MA – This year, move-in day in the greater Boston area coincides with the first day of school in Brookline.

As such, a traffic advisory has been issued by Brookline Police for those traveling through town. The department advises drivers to allow for 20 extra minutes on their trip.

With many large vehicles blocking views, as well as children walking, here's what you should be aware of when you drive in Brookline Thursday, via the Brookline Police Department:

• Expect to see school buses in the Coolidge Corner area

• A large student population will be walking in the Harvard and Beacon Street area

• The temporary Devotion School is on Webster Street

• Traffic will be delayed at Harvard and Beacon Street and Beacon Street at Center Street

Beacon Street will have many vehicles parked for moving operations

• The St. Paul Street area near Egmont Street will also be a heavily congested area due to move in

• Traveling on Boylston Street? The school at 190 Boylston will have buses dropping off and picking up

• Drive slow, put the phone away and look for children approaching from behind large vehicles at intersections
