Truck Takes Down Wires, Damages Porch: Brookline Police Logs

This week Brookline Police were called to handle a few package thefts and a report of truck knocking down some cable wires.

They are excerpts taken from the public police log and represent a portion of what kinds of calls the police respond to. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Monday, July 31

Bike gone: A Summit Avenue resident reported her bike was missing from her building’s garage. A Greenough Street resident came up to an officer and reported his bike had been stolen.

Revoked licence leads to arrest: While conducting traffic enforcement on Harvard Street, an officer pulled over a car that didn't have an inspection sticker and found the driver had a revoked license. The officer arrested the man and issued a citation for Operating on a Revoked License and No Inspection Sticker.

Package theft video: A Pleasant Street resident reported a package theft. Security footage shows the package being delivered to the front lobby and left on a window cell. Later, at approximately footage shows a man enter the building at 10:37 a.m., and leave with the package. The subject was wearing a white t-shirt, black hat, blue jeans, and black shoes.

Shoplifter: A manager of a business on Harvard Street said she saw video surveillance of a man take stacks of clothing and place them into a reusable bag he had brought with him. He then left the store and returned a few minutes later; at this time, the staff was notified of the individual but when he was approached he took off.

Weird package stuff: An Aspinwall Avenue resident called to report they found a package delivered to their address but it didn't belong to any of them. The woman who the package was addressed to said she'd recently been contacted by her credit card company stating her card had been used to make a purchase she had not made. Since this incident, the woman has been monitoring her credit card history.

Shoplifting: Someone at a business on Beacon Street called police about an attempted shoplifting. The customer service manager told police he saw a man behind the customer service counter holding various items. Two men were placed under arrest for Shoplifting. Officers will be provided security footage from the business on Beacon Street.

Tuesday, Aug. 1

Stolen car: Someone reported a car that had been stolen on Cypress Street earlier was found on near the corner of Summit Avenue and Short Street. There did not appear to be any damage to the vehicle. The vehicle was processed and the owner was notified of the recovery of his vehicle.

Threat at a bank: A customer threatened an employee at a Bank on Beacons street, saying he had a bomb in his backpack.

Wednesday, Aug. 2

Back to the bank: Bank employees told police they'd give surveillance footage to officers when it was available and police noted the man was contacted and advised that he would be summonsed to court for "Terroristic Threats."

Think they'll call back?: Someone on Village Way reported harassing phone calls. The officer contacted the number that had been used to make the calls and requested they call the Brookline Police Department.

Thursday, Aug. 3

Crash: Someone called to report a car had crashed into a parked car on Route 9. Both of the vehicles were towed and the operator was issued a citation for Marked Lanes Violation.

That's my plate: Someone called to report a license plate was stolen off of a vehicle parked on Davis Avenue sometime between 8:50 a.m. and 11:50 a.m.

Call me, maybe: Someone reported a truck that took down utility wires on Allerton Street. The Brookline Fire Department determined the wires were cable television wires and posed no danger to the public. An officer came, saw damage to a porch at an address on Allerton Street and left a note for the resident detailing the incident and contact information for the police department.
