What's Open, Closed In Brookline Christmas Day 2018

BROOKLINE, MA — Christmas is just around the corner. The holiday will be celebrated on a Tuesday this year, but a number of businesses will be closed in observance. There will be a few open on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. But what's what? Here's a quick guide.

• City offices: Closed
• Schools: Closed from Dec. 24 to Jan 1. , according to the Brookline School Calendar
• Libraries: Closed
• Post Office: Closed
• Banks: Closed
• Gas Stations: Open

Here's where it gets tricky. Many restaurants, retail stores, and grocery stores will be closed, but not all. Here are some details on a few to get you started:

Retail stores:

• CVS
  • Christmas Eve: Most stores open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Christmas Day: Most stores open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Brookline Booksmith
  • Christmas Eve: Close at 7 p.m.
  • Christmas Day: Closed

Supermarkets:

• Shaw's/Star Market
  • Christmas Eve: Most stores typically close a few hours early
  • Christmas Day: Closed
• Trader Joe's
  • Christmas Eve: All stores close at 6 p.m.
  • Christmas Day: Closed
• Whole Foods
  • Christmas Eve: All stores will have limited hours. Hours vary by location.
  • Christmas Day: Closed.

Liquor Stores (all are closed on Christmas Day)

• vinodivino 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Christmas Eve
• Wine Press: 10 a.m to 8 p.m. Christmas Eve
• Gary's Liquors: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Christmas Eve

The Movies

You can always count on the theatre!

The Coolidge Theatre will be closing early on Christmas Eve (the last show will be 7:15 p.m.) But they will be open regular hours Christmas day. Check here for the schedule.

Showcase SuperLux in Chestnut Hill will be showing "Aquaman" and "Mary Poppins Returns" on both days.
