This week police pulled over people for small traffic violations, but found out they were driving without a licence to boot. Arrestable.

This week police responded to reports of shoplifting, package thefts and fraud. All of the following is from Brookline Police log or online blog. They are excerpts taken from the public police log and represent a portion of what kinds of calls the police respond to. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Package theft: An Egmont Street resident called to report a package that was due to arrive never arrived. She told police she did go to answer a knock on the door that was believed to be the delivery person. But when she opened the door, she saw children that lived upstairs walking by with what looked like the package. The officer spoke with the mother of the children who said the children did not come in with any package.
Stop: An officer pulled over a black Volvo on Dean Road for not stopping at a stop sign. When the driver told police she did not have her out of country license in her possession, the officer ran her passport through the system and the computer showed she did not have an in state license. The officer gave her a court summons.

Tuesday, May 16
Fraud: An officer at the front desk was approached by a woman who wanted to report fraudulent use of her Credit Card. The subject stated she is in possession of the card, but somehow someone got her credit card number and used it in another state, making several charges.
Shoplifting: A store on Beacon Street reported a possible shoplifting incident. The store manager told police a man he described as black, in his 50's, wearing all black with a black hat had stolen several items. The suspect was spotted in the store parking lot and stopped by another officer. A search of the subject revealed the items the store manager saw him steal. Police arrested the man.
Wednesday, May 17
At least he was honest: Police pulled over a black Saab for speeding near the corner of Boylston and Heath streets and requested the driver's license and the registration. When the driver told police his license was suspended, and he could not produce either, the officer ran his name through the computer system and it came back that in addition to the suspended licence, there was a warrant out for the man's arrest.
