Best Pizza In The Country Coming To Burlington Mall

BURLINGTON, MA -- Frank Pepe Pizzeria, the Connecticut chain which is one of the best -know pizzerias in America, will open its second location in the Burlington Mall, according to a Twitter post. The first Greater Boston location opened in 2015 in Chestnut Hill.

"As long planned, Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana has desired to expand its presence in and around the Boston area and Burlington is one of the potential locations that we are currently exploring as part of our continued expansion," the chain said in a statement. "We look forward to sharing updates with fans of Pepe’s pizza as soon as additional details are confirmed."

The original Pepe's opened in New Haven 1925 and billboards advertising that location are familiar to anyone who has driven the Boston-to-New York City run. The chain now has 10 locations, most of which are in Connecticut. In 2017, the Daily Mail awarded uit its Best Pizza In The Country accoldae.

An application with the Burlington Planning Department says the restaurant plans to open later this year. The new restaurant will take over the space previously occupied by Uno Pizzeria and Grill in the Burlington Mall. That restaurant, which was one of Uno's first in new England, opened in the mid-1980s before closing in January.
