Board of Selectmen Recount Scheduled for Tuesday
Board of Selectmen candidate Michael Runyan has petitioned for a recount that will happen tomorrow.

There is a Board of Registar's meeting scheduled for tomorrow morning to perform a recount of the Burlington Board of Selectmen ballots from the April 9 town election scheduled for 9 a.m. at the .
The recount is being held because it was petitioned by candidate Michael Runyan, who explained he decided to see a recount after the election was won by his opponent, Daniel Grattan, Grattan has since been sworn onto the board and participated in as a member of the board.
"I’m always optimistic," Runyan said days after the election in response to questions about the possibility of a recount changing the outcome of the election. "Technically, if we can get just a three vote swing in our direction, we could prevail. It’s not out of the question by any means."

Grattan said he "expected" a recount considering the close results, adding he was looking forward to seeing the final result.
Runyan completed the necessary paperwork for a recount and the Board of Registrars of Voters approved the measure. The agenda for the meeting is as follows:

- Call the meeting to order.
- Announce: only authorized persons are allowed within the recount area; no food or beverages allowed in the recount area.
- Swear in all workers
- Ask readers/counters to be seated. Instruct observers to stand behind the counters (and keep any conversation quiet so not to interfere will the counters.) Check to see that all observers are wearing ID tags.
- Ask Candidates to Designate one person to make arguments to the Board of Registrars and announce their names (may also be the candidate)
- Read the RECOUNT PROCEDURES
- Distribute a copy of the Ballot Counting Guideline to readers/agents and blank tally’s to interested parties.
- Have the 1st Precinct’s Ballot Transfer Case placed on the center table and unlock/unseal A Registrar should reseal/lock the Precinct’s Transfer Case after that Precinct’s recount is complete and open the next Precinct’s Transfer Case.
- Determine Protested Ballots as requested.
- After 1 ½ - 2 hours and upon the completion of a Precinct – announce a 15 minute break
- Declare recount results.
- Ask if there are any other questions, if none, ask for a Motion to Adjourn, all those in favor...., opposed... The ayes have it, the meeting is adjourned.
