Board of Selectmen Recount Underway
The Burlington Registrar of voters is currently recounting the April 9 ballots.
The Burlington Board of Registrars is currently of the ballots for the April 9 Burlington Board of Selectmen vote. The recount was petitioned for by candidate Michael Runyan, who lost the to Daniel Grattan.
Grattan was sworn into office in the days after the election and has thus far sat on the board for two meetings.
Runyan has asked for a hand recount, meaning each ballot will be counted individually by a person rather than the computer scanners. Runyan explained today he asked for a hand count because he believes the small difference in the results was below the voting machines' margin of error.

Each campaign was allowed two observers per table of Board of Registrar members to watch the recount. Observers can challenge any ballot if they believe the voter's intent is different than what is determined by the recount workers.
