BRIDGES Together in Burlington starts at Francis Wyman on October 5th!
Intergenerational program for 4th graders and older adult 55+ beginning at the Francis Wyman is looking for older participants.
The Burlington Schools and the Burlington Council on Aging are partnering once again to bring the Bridges program to Burlington. After only a few years we have managed to grow the program to include all 4th grade classrooms in the elementary schools. We need your help to continue to bring the rich intergenerational experiences of all 4th graders in Burlington.
Do you know anyone who might be willing to volunteer? We need adults ages 55 and over willing to spend one hour a week with fourth grade students for six weeks, beginning Thursday, October 5 from 12-1PM. The program ends before Thanksgiving. Classroom teachers lead the lessons and volunteers spend time talking with students to build a relationship and get to know one another. Two volunteers work with a group of 4-6 students. An orientation is provided for new volunteers prior to the first session, and volunteers do not need to be Burlington residents or have any experience working in a classroom or with children. If you can't volunteer this fall there are more sessions coming up during the winter and spring.
