Brockton Man Convicted On Burlington Human Trafficking Charges
The conviction stems from a November 2015 sting that netted nine men.

BURLINGTON, MA -- A Middlesex Superior Court jury found Shakwaan Simpkins, 26, of Brockton, guilty on charges of trafficking of a person for sexual servitude in connection. Simpkins was arrested on November 20, 2015 as part of a sting by Burlington police that resulted in the arrest of eight other men. But Simpkins faced the more serious charge after he tried to recruit an undercover Burlington police officer to work for him as a prostitute at an area hotel.
Police were also able to locate another woman who was working as a prostitute for Simpkins in a car parked at another hotel. Simkins was scheduled to be sentenced on Wednesday morning.
The sting involved an undercover officer posing as a prostitute. She placed online advertisements and the men responded, meeting up with the officer for what they thought was a sexual encounter, police said.
