MA Coronavirus: Burlington Mall To Close Until March 29

Simon Malls, which owns 12 shopping centers in Massachusetts, will close all properties by the end of the day Wednesday.

BURLINGTON, MA — One of the largest mall companies in the U.S. said Wednesday that it will close all of its shopping centers by the end of the day, and won't reopen them until at least March 29. Burlington Mall will close at 7 p.m.

Simon Malls owns 12 shopping centers in Massachusetts, including Burlington Mall.

"The health and safety of our shoppers, retailers and employees is of paramount importance, and we are taking this step to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our communities," Simon CEO David Simon said in a news release.

Simon had previously shortened the hours at Burlington Mall, dining-in at restaurants was banned by the governor and many national retailers had already made the choice to close stores in malls.
