The current remote learning plan in Burlington will continue until May 8, the district said.
BURLINGTON, MA — Gov. Charlie Baker announced Tuesday that schools will remain closed for the rest of the year. Remote learning will continue.
In a notice to the community, Burlington Public Schools said administrators are discussing how to replace graduation and other year-end celebrations. The district also said the current remote learning plan will continue until May 8.
"We expect to have some modifications from May 8 through the remainder of the school closure to ensure that all of our students have an opportunity to cover and/or review the essential standards coming from the state later this week," the notice continued.

Contrary to federal recommendations, the state is asking districts to focus on "deepening" instruction in areas that have already been covered, rather than moving forward with state curricula.
"The state will publish more guidance at the end of the week to identify a few "essential or power standards" at each grade level," according to the notice. "The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education wants to ensure students have familiarity with these standards by the end of the year, if they have not covered this material already."
