Burlington Further Limits Watering To One Night A Week
Most of Massachusetts remains under abnormally dry or drought conditions, despite recent storms.
BURLINGTON, MA — Outdoor watering is limited to one night a week, beginning Thursday, the town of Burlington said.
Lawn irrigation is limited to 7 to 10 p.m. once weekly, based on street address, the town said. Even number street addresses can water on Tuesdays, odd numbers on Saturdays.
Watering of gardens, flowers and other ornamental plantings is permitted by hand-held hose, as is car washing, filling pools, exterior washing and "core functions of a business or commercial activity" remain permitted at all times.

Exemptions for new lawns are not available until September.
Town officials said in June that town water use was unsustainable, amid unusually dry conditions. Most of the state remains under drought or abnormally dry conditions.

First-time water use violations are met with a warning, which escalates to a $50 fine for the second violation and $100 for every violation after.
