Burlington Gets Ready To Honor Its First Olympic Gold Medalist

Kali Flanagan is the first Gold Olympian in Burlington

From The Town of Burlington: Join the Town of Burlington Oct 3, 2018 6:00 p.m. on the Burlington Common for the Unveiling of Burlington’s Kali Flanagan Olympic Plaque. Kali skated her way into the hearts of Americans on the 2018 Olympic Women's Hockey Team Bringing Home the Gold Medal. Kali’s plaque will be joining the other Burlington Olympians on the Olympic Stone.

Kali Flanagan is the first Gold Olympian in Burlington. Kali will be joining Burlington’s other Olympians Peter & Kitty Carruthers who won the silver medal in pairs figure skating in 1984 along with Mark and Scott Fusco both who skated on the US men’s hockey team and Gary Piantedosi 1976 Olympics Rowing Team. In 2009, Kali played varsity hockey for Burlington High as an eighth grader, for high school, Kali attended the Nation Sports Academy in Lake Placid, N.Y but, returned to her native Burlington to Graduate before going to Boston College.

Please come show your support for Kali as her plaque is unveiled. State Representative Ken Gordon will open the ceremonies with a few words and our former Olympians will be formally recognized and offered an opportunity to share a few words for Kali.
