Burlington Girls Soccer Shutouts Watertown 5-0
Katie Han and April Adams each scored twice to power the Lady Devils.
The girls’ soccer team shutout Watertown 5-0 on a beautiful Monday night at Varsity Field.
Leading the way for the Lady Devils were Katie Han and April Adams who each scored twice.
The action started early as Han raced in on a breakaway during the first minute of play but her shot was cast aside by Watertown goalie Casey Halle to keep the game scoreless.

Han got revenge about five minutes later when she fired a shot past Halle for her first goal of the game to put Burlington up 1-0.
In the 19th minute of play Burlington went up 2-0 when Adams found the back of the net. Halle got tangled up with a Burlington player as the ball bounced to Adams who kicked it into the wide open net.

Burlington nearly added to its lead just a couple minutes later when freshman Julia Roussell fired a shot that bounced wide off the post and out of harms way.
Burlington would not be able to add to its lead and they took a 2-0 lead into the half.
Burlington tacked onto its lead when Han got her second goal of the contest nine minutes into the second half. The goal was setup by a beautiful free kick from captain Megan Packard as Han headed the ball off the crossbar. She stuck with it and booted the bouncing ball into the net to put Burlington up 3-0.
Just four minutes later Adams fired a shot past Halle with her left foot for her second goal of the game and made it 4-0. Han picked up an assist on the goal with a beautiful pass to set up Adams.
Watertown had its best chance to score in the 19th minute of the second half when Gabby Coppola had a breakaway but Burlington goalie Erin Clark made a huge stop to preserve the shutout. Clark finished the game with seven saves to earn the shutout and got serious help from her defensive unit of Gabriella Gonzalez, Erin Savage and Caroline Spinale.
Burlington tacked on one more goal in the 27th minute of the second half when Roussell found the back of the net after being rejected by the post on her previous chance.
Burlington will try to keep its winning ways going on Thursday afternoon when they host Revere. Watertown will try to right the ship on Tuesday when they host Arlington.
