Burlington Man Pleads Guilty In Off-Duty Police Officer's Death
Michael Ricci, 19, of Burlington, will be sentenced on December 17.

BURLINGTON, MA -- Prosecutors in New Hampshire will ask for a sentence of 7 to 14 years in prison when Michael Ricci, 19, of Burlington, is sentenced on December 17. Ricci entered a guilty plea to one count of negligent homicide, two counts of second-degree assault and one of reckless conduct in Rockingham Superior Court earlier this month.
Ricci was arrested last October and charged with felony reckless conduct for his role in a crash that killed an off-duty Somerville.
Witnesses say Ricci was racing other vehicles in a 2013 Mercedes C300 on Interstate 95 on the northbound side when he allegedly veered onto the southbound side and crashed head on into a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Louis Remigio, 55, of Tewksbury. Remigio was transported to Portsmouth Hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries.

The wreck also left John Bamford, the 63-year-old driver and Jaclyn Bamford, the 61-year-old passenger of a Subaru Legacy injured The driver could not stop the car in time and crashed into the Mercedes Ricci was operating. The Bamfords, of Wells, Maine, were transported to Portsmouth Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Ricci was not injured.
