Burlington Parks Inducts New Members Into Hall Of Fame

The Burlington Parks and Recreation Department will host their 50th Anniversary Gala and Hall of Fame inductions on December 14th.

BURLINGTON, MA - From The Burlington Parks & Recreation Department: The Burlington Parks & Recreation Department is pleased to announce the induction of 11 people into our first Hall of Fame class. This recognition is given to those "individuals and organizations that have shown an outstanding commitment to the Burlington Parks & Recreation Department." The first class of inductees will be honored at our 50th Anniversary Gala held on Thursday, December 14th beginning at 7 pm in the Hilton Garden Inn.

This year's Hall of Fame class includes the original Recreation Commissioners appointed in 1967, who served for various years: James Bird, Thomas Flaherty, Jr., Warren Ganley, Daniel Looney and Francis White.

The class will also include the following employees in recognition for their service to the department and Town. The inductees are: Dick Binnall, who was the first Recreation Director from 1967 – 1971, Jim Marchese, the first Maintenance Director (1967 - 1993), Natalie Gillingham, the department’s first Office Assistant (1967 - 1996), Don Roberts, who served as Recreation Director from 1971 - 2009, Doug Gillingham who worked for the department from 1972 – 2014 and as the Maintenance Director from 1993 - 2009 and Bill Boudreau who served as the Assistant Recreation Director From 1974 - 2008.

All of these individuals were innovators that shaped what the Burlington Parks & Recreation Department is today. We are honored to welcome our first group of distinguished individuals.

Limited tickets are still available for the Gala; tickets are $30 each or $250 for a table of 10. For more information or to purchase tickets, please contact the Burlington Parks & Recreation Office (781-270- 1695). The Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
