Burlington Police Arrest Son Of Convicted Murderer

BURLINGTON, MA -- Burlington Police arrested one half of a two-man team known for running credit card scams in area retailers. Loss prevention staff at Best Buy called police at 11:36 am on Sunday that one of the men was in the store wearing a grey shirt and black hat and that his partner appeared to be waiting for him in a car in the store's parking lot.
Police arrested Edward Sarmanian III, 43, of 952 Main Street Apartment 2, in Melrose and charged him with two counts of receiving a stolen credit card, two counts of identity fraud and one count of possession of a class A drug. Sarmanian has at least one prior arrest for receiving a stolen credit card, in Somerville in 2013.
Sarmanian is the son of Edward Sarmanian Jr., who was sentenced to life in prison in 1988 in the murder of former stripper Lynne A. Griffin, 29, of Chelsea. According to court records, Sarmanian stabbed Griffin 39 times as she pleaded for her life on November 29, 1987.

Other arrests in the log include:
- Police issued a summons to a driver involved in a crash at 1:43 pm on Tuesday at the intersection of Cambridge and Wall Streets. The driver, whose identity was not disclosed, was charged with OUI-Liquor, open container and operating a motor vehicle after license revocation.
- At 4:44 pm Tuesday, police were called to Abercrombie & Fitch at the Burlington Mall, where they arrested Henry Santiago Paulino Collado, 51, of Bronx, NY, and charged him with shoplifting.
