Burlington Police Department Seeks Qualified Candidates for Entry Level Exam

Police Chief Michael R. Kent announces that the Burlington Police Department will hold an entry level exam on Nov. 1 for those interested in a career in law enforcement.

The exam is the first process in moving forward in the police hiring process. As the department is no longer hiring under Civil Service, this is the first time that Burlington Police are handling the hiring process internally.

“Burlington is a town of 25,000 people with a large commercial and industrial base that pushes our daytime population by 600 percent. The exam is a chance for an interested candidate to join an active, professional police department in a bustling community,” Chief Kent said. “I encourage anyone with an interest in a career in policing to register.”

The mission of the Burlington Police Department is to work with all citizens of the community, to create a safe and secure environment with an emphasis on equality, fairness, integrity and professionalism.

The exam will be held Nov. 1 at 9 a.m. at Burlington High School. Registrations must be submitted online before Oct. 30. Registrations will not be accepted on the day of the examination.

Candidates who pass the written examination may be invited to participate in a physical fitness test scheduled for November 15, 2014. Candidates who meet basic selection criteria may be invited to a panel interview between November 18-24, 2014 for further consideration. Positions are available beginning approximately February 2015.
