Burlington Swim and Tennis Club Celebrates 55 Years of Fun in the Sun

BSTC still accepting new members as of Memorial Day weekend.

The opened celebrated the opening of its 55th year last weekend as temperatures climbed into the 80’s. Members flocked to the pool and tennis courts, and got reacquainted with friends that they may not see during the cold winter months.

The Club grounds were meticulously groomed with help from club members and from local landscaper Domenic Landscaping who sponsored the club again this year providing mulching, lawn maintenance and spring clean-up.

“My kids are so excited that the Club is open,” said member Ginger Boermeister. “Ever since the weather warmed up, they've been asking me when the pool would open. It’s their favorite place to be all summer.”

Club members immediately noticed improvements made over the winter including freshly paved walkways. The snack shack is also undergoing a minor facelift after a burst pipe this winter.

Members recently told Patch that the Club’s open and friendly atmosphere is what keeps them coming back each year.

“The BSTC is not a typical country club,” said member Michelle Gedick. “It’s totally unpretentious and very welcoming to everyone.”

Member Adrian Goneau adds “Kids today really need unstructured play time. The BSTC is the best place for my kids to just be kids in a place that is safe and fun for the whole family.”

The BSTC is known for its family friendly activities including Friday night barbeques, New Member Socials, Family Day, Kids’ Day, Club Campouts, Tie Dye events, Pancake breakfasts and more.

sophomore Erin Savage has been a member since the age of 4 and will return this year.

“I love the Swim Club,” said Savage. “I learned to swim there, learned independence and creativity, and made lots of great friends.”

The Burlington Swim and Tennis Club offers families access to pool, tennis and club house facilities for a rate of $829 per family. This fee includes participating in the Club’s swim team which welcomes members between the ages of 5 and 18.  The team led by head coach Stephanie Cloutier  practices every weekday morning from 8:30 to 10:00. Membership also includes participation in the Club’s tennis team, led by tennis coach Tommy O’Connell.

Weekend memberships are also available for $399 per family. Non-members are welcome to join the swim team for a fee of $200 per child.

In 2011, the Club hosted 140 member families. Capacity is 150 member families so the Board expects that a waiting list will go into effect this year.

The BSTC is offering a free Open House June 9-10 this year.  New families are welcome to come visit the Club and use the facilities for free all weekend.
