Deadline Looming For Burlington Town Election Candidates
Thursday was the last day for candidates to take out nomination papers, which need to be returned with certified signatures by Tuesday.

BURLINGTON, MA -- The deadline to pull nomination papers for the Burlington Town Election was 5 pm Thursday. Candidates need to return the nomination papers with signatures to the town clerk's office by the close of business Feb. 20. As of Tuesday, a four-way race for two selectmen's seats was shaping up in the April 7 election.
Selectmen Joseph E. Morandi and Michael S. Runyan are both up for reelection and have both taken out nomination papers. Also taking out nomination papers to run for selectman seats are Virginia E. Mooney of Mohawk Road and Nicholas C. Priest of Prouty Road. Mooney served on the board of selectmen from 1988 to 1991. Last year she lost a three-way race with Joan Kennedy-Constant to Zoning Board of Appeals member and Burlington Police Department Detective James M. Tigges.
School Committee Member Martha Simon and Moderator William Beyer are bot up for reelection. As of Tuesday, they were running unopposed. Outside of town meeting, the only other contested race as of Tuesday was for library trustee where Jane H. Calo of Polk Street, Hiral Gandhi of Mohawk Road and Ram Voruganti of Tinkham Avenue are running for two seats.

As of Tuesday, precincts two and five had just five candidates running for six open town meeting representative seats. There are contested races for town meeting representative from precinct one, three, and four based on candidates that have taken out nomination papers.

- Precinct One (6 seats up for reelection): Donna D. Gregorio *, Michael J. Hardy *, Mark S. Saia *, Adam Senesi *, David J. Woodilla *, William S. Boivin, Michael Espejo and Ram Voruganti.
- Precinct Two (6 seats up for reelection): Eleanor N. O'Connell *, Gene J. Rossi *, John J. Ryan *, Myrna A.. Saltman *, Kimberly A. Trainer *
- Precinct Three (6 seats up for reelection): Lucy M Damiani *, Joanne Frustaci *, Stephen G. Marchese Sr. *, Mildred J. Nash *, Paul Gerard Noonan *, Julianne Ouellet * and Andrew Bean.
- Precinct Four (6 seats up for reelection): Joan B. Hastings *, Frank P. Monaco *, Virginia E. Mooney *, Laura G. Nichols *, Eileen Claire Sickler *, Kelley Lax, Sally Willard and Schiffan Wong
- Precinct Five (6 seats up for reelection): Patricia J. Angelo *, Albert l. Fay Jr. *, Christopher Paul Murphy *, Norman A. Steeves * and Ernest R. Zabolotny *.
- Precinct Six (6 seats up for reelection): Roger A. Bell *, Diane Kendrigan Creedon *, Daniel R. DiTucci *, Gary B. Kasky *, Sonia S. Rollins *, and Salvana Shakaib *.
- Precinct Seven (6 seats up for reelection): Elliot C. Brown *, Cody A. Case *, Anne P. Coady *, Brenda Haney *, Lois Smith-Martin * and Mark E. Woods *.
