Election Results: Daniel Grattan Elected to Board of Selectmen by 5 Votes, Re-Count Expected
Contender Michael Runyan to ask for recount.
The results for the Burlington Town Election have been released and Daniel Grattan is the projected winner for the open Board of Selectmen seat by five votes. Grattan beat out second-place contender Michael Runyan 1,075 to 1,070. Candidate Virginia Mooney cornered 213 votes.
"I'm grateful top the voters for electing me," Grattan said after the results were released. "I am thankful for the support I received from my staff and from the community. I'm looking forward to working with the board."
The election, however, might not quite be over. Because of the close results, Runyan said he will be seeking a recount.

"We'll be at the Town Clerk's office on Monday looking for a recount," Runyan said. "With a five vote difference, I think that is pretty much automatic. We have a good system in Burlington for counting votes, but with only five votes between us I think it's worth the effort to have a recount."
Grattan, too, said he wouldn't be surprised to see a recount.
