Former Burlington Resident Convicted of Child Rape Looks to Have Conviction Overturned

Herbert Dorazio was convicted in 2010 for rape and assault with intent to rape two 6-year-old girls.

A Wilmington man, convicted of child rape, is looking to have his conviction for assaulting two neighborhood girls overturned.

The state’s Supreme Judicial Court will hear Herbert Dorazio’s case on Tuesday where he is looking to have his case overturned, saying the jury at the time of his conviction was allowed to hear allegations of another sexual assault of a child where Dorazio was cleared, the Lowell Sun is reporting.

The incidents occurred in Burlington, Dorazio later moved to Wilmington.

Dorazio was found guilty in August 2010 of forcible rape of a child and assault with intent to rape a child, both 6-year-old neighbors of his in Burlington between 1996 and 1998. He was sentenced to 12 to 15 years in prison.
