Museum Passes for Art Lovers
Do you love art? Do you enjoy wandering through museums housing spectacular collections? If you’ve answered yes to these questions, then you’ll love the library’s pass program. With a library card in good standing, you can borrow discount passes to the following art museum: DeCordova Sculpture Park, The Institute of Contemporary Art, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Museum of Fine Arts and the Peabody Essex Museum. The Friends of the Library, local businesses and individuals sponsor for your us. Of the passes listed above, The Museum of Fine Arts is sponsored by Burlington Breakfast Rotary (they also sponsor the Museum of Science) , the Peabody Essex Museum is sponsored by the Fownes Family and the remainder are sponsored by the Friends. Your membership and support of Friends’ fundraisers make it possible for the Friends to fund so many great passes and for the library to offer you the opportunity to visit so many wonderful places. To learn more about these passes you can go to our website, burlingtonpubliclibrary.org, or ask at the Circulation Desk. Be sure to check out all that is offered and also note the sponsors who make them possible!
Artists
The Trustees of the Burlington Public Library welcome artists to exhibit work in the Library. A spacious, well-lit area on the first floor has been designated "The Gallery" and amateur and professional artists of all ages are invited to participate in solo and group juried shows. Each artist is generally assigned a month to exhibit work.
The Library also has glass-fronted locking display cases in the entry and exit lobbies at the front of the building. They are ideal for displaying three-dimensional objects, but can also be used to display posters, photographs, or papers that are mounted on a firm backing.
If you are interested in displaying your work, visit our website or contact Michael Wick, Assistant Director, to learn more or to book a time for you to display your art.
