Hagar’s Sisters is planning this benefit to raise $25,000 to help women and children in our own community find hope, healing and a new life free from abuse. For the women Hagar’s Sisters serves, a lack of finances is frequently a significant barrier to receiving help. For this reason the women they support are never charged for the services they receive. Hagar’s Sisters is fully reliant on contributions from individuals and organizations to come alongside the women of Hagar’s Sisters who are working diligently, to help them reclaim their dignity and lives.

The American Psychological Association reports that 1 in 3 women are abused in their lifetime in the United States, resulting in an estimated 2 to 4 million women being assaulted by a domestic partner each year. Domestic abuse knows no boundaries and is prevalent regardless of race, education, socioeconomic status, or religion.

Hagar’s Sisters unique education and support services coupled with the life-changing transformation experienced by those who participate has caused news of its organization to travel quickly. For each of their first three years, they averaged 75% growth in those served. In each of the last two years they grew at a rate of 24% and expect a continuation of this remarkable growth rate again in 2018.

There is such high demand for the unique faith-based services that Hagar’s Sisters consistently receives requests to offer support group meetings throughout the Boston area, in other regions across the United States, and in other countries. And yet, Hagar’s Sisters is one of only 5 organizations of this type in all of New England. In 2015, Hagar’s Sisters extended support to women in need on Boston’s North Shore by launching its first satellite support group in Danvers, Massachusetts. In 2017 Danvers grew by 42%! All women regardless of race, religion, education, gender- identity or socio economic status are warmly welcomed at Hagar’s Sisters.

While the enormity of this unmet need for services in this niche are remarkable, it is the hope and healing women find at Hagar’s Sisters that bears witness to the significance of this unique program. One Client wrote:
