Ikier's Saves Seal Burlington Win
With Chris Ikier in net, Burlington's defense held Woburn scoreless during middle two quarters.
's varsity boys lacrosse team returned home with a win following a game in Woburn on Monday. The final score was 4-2.
Woburn’s offense had been humming along, as the team most recently beat Watertown 11-4 and Wakefield 15-14. However, on Wednesday, Burlington’s ball-control offense and team defense proved to be the difference, as did goalie Chris Ikier.
“Ikier’s been steadfast the whole way for us,” Burlington coach Rob Parkin said after the game. “He’s one of the best goalies in [the Middlesex League], and I feel he’s one of the better goalies in the state.”

With his team up 3-1 after the first quarter, thanks to two goals by Chris Litchfield, Ikier made four key saves in the second quarter to keep Woburn’s offense at bay. After holding Woburn scoreless again in the third, Ikier finally surrendered a second goal to Gilgun with just under five minutes remaining in the game.
Ikier finished with 10 saves in the game. Teammate R.J. Caruso scored an early fourth-quarter goal to push Burlington’s lead to three, at 4-1, before the closing minutes.

After dominating possession for much of the first half, Burlington had the ball for about 10 minutes in the scoreless third quarter.
Burlington (5-5) is now riding a three-game winning streak. The team will have the week off before returning to action against Watertown on Monday.
