Letter: Ken Gordon "Why I deserve Your Vote"

A letter from Democratic candidate Ken Gordon on why he is running in today's primary.

I'm Ken Gordon. I'm asking you to vote for me, please, this Thursday, in the Democratic primary, to be your State Representative in the 21st Middlesex District.

I  will stand up for the rights of the middle class, as I do at work, as I have as a community volunteer. My job is to protect [support] the rights of workers who have been victimized in the work place for a variety of reasons, such as discrimination and harassment.

I understand the value of small and large business to our community.  Entrepreneurs must be given an incentive to invest in our community, or they will take their jobs elsewhere.  We do that by investing in the infrastructure of the community, because relying on tax savings alone leaves us vulnerable to being outbid by another community.

I firmly support our Medicare system. I understand that, with seniors living longer,  with medical plans that do not fully cover prescriptions, with limited  choices regarding facilities,  matching public services with the growing needs of our seniors becomes ever more important.

I understand that the cost of health care to individuals and businesses still remains too high and that we need more efficient health care delivery.  Our state leads the country in reforming the health care system, leading to the highest rate of health insurance participation in the nation. People are taking advantage of better primary care and receiving more preventive services, avoiding costly complications, and emergency room visits.

I will support current efforts underway to reform our health care payment system.  I will work on efforts to provide incentives for delivery of services in a cost effective manner.  However, I will also make sure that any changes to our health care delivery system will ensure that patients still receive the quality care needed.

I am a passionate advocate for our veterans and our men and women in uniform.  I support new tax incentives, educational opportunities, job training, career planning, and counseling for them and their families.

I support developers who promote affordable housing and responsible community development.
