Letter to the Editor: Bowing Out of School Committee Race Due to Family Commitments
A letter to the editor from School Committee candidate Joanne Frustaci.

It has been an extraordinary experience to explore a run for School Committee. Burlington voters overwhelmingly support the ideals of my candidacy: passion for excellence in education, stronger parent-school partnerships, integrating new leadership on a Board with over 50 years' tenure amongst its three veterans. Contested races give candidates an opportunity to articulate and refine goals and direction; they give incumbents an opportunity to articulate accomplishments and re-energize their base.
As scheduling conflicts arose in our family, it became apparent I would not be able to dedicate the time necessary to fulfill this obligation in the current election cycle. Incumbent Mike DeSimone agrees with the community call for productive change . After talks between campaigns, I am confident incumbent Mike DeSimone will press for streamlined solutions to imminent problems. You, the citizen and voter, must never abandon your critical role in this process. It is only when you speak out publicly with the passion and interest shown in private conversations all across this town that our schools will truly benefit.
Sincerely,
Joanne Frustaci
