Letter to the Editor: Planning Board Candidacy Announcement

I am pleased to announce my candidacy for Planning Board. As a lifelong resident of Burlington, I am passionate about this town. I have long followed the planning board meetings and have a solid understanding of the issues facing the Board.

As a member of the Planning Board, I will give careful, unbiased consideration to every proposal that comes before me. I will work diligently to balance the needs of Burlington's residents with its business community. I am a graduate of Merrimack College and have over twenty years of experience in a high technology business setting. I have the ability to negotiate with differing parties and craft solutions that work for all.  I promise to come to every meeting prepared - not with all the answers - but with all the right questions.

As a Town Meeting Member serving on the Capital Budget Committee, I worked closely with the Committee Chair and Planning Board members to develop a strong affordable housing bylaw to protect Burlington’s future.  I also served as the Co-Chair of the Francis Wyman PTO Playground Committee. In this capacity, I worked with the School Committee, Town and State officials, contractors and designers to plan, fund and build the school’s handicapped accessible playground which opened in 2009.

I grew up in Burlington and am now raising my own family here. I am eager to take on this new responsibility and give back to the community that has given me so much. As a member of the Planning Board, I will work to insure a safe, strong Burlington that retains the character and charm that we all love.
