Man Runs off with Bottles of Liquor, Fugitive from NH Arrested, IRS Scam Calls and More

The following is a sampling of log entries provided by the Burlington Police Department. Where mentioned, an arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Tuesday, March 3
2:26 a.m. - Motor vehicle stop in the area of 189 Francis Wyman Road at Luther Road. Operator was summonsed for operating after revocation of registration, operating uninsured motor vehicle and defective headlight. Vehicle was towed.
2:25 p.m. - Caller from Burlington Wine & Spirits reporting a male party ran off with bottles of alcohol. Police arrested Charles J. Saia, 64 of Waltham and charged him with shoplifting over $100 by asportation.

4:52 p.m. - Shoplifter arrested at Wegmans. Police arrested Patrick K. Mogauro, 41, of Woburn and charged him with shoplifting by asportation, third offense.
6:59 p.m. - Caller from Independence Drive reports mail truck blocking his driveway. Tow company called to remove truck.

Wednesday, March 4
8:26 a.m. - Caller reports the traffic lights at Mall Road at Executive Park may not be working correctly at one of the intersections. Officers determined it was due to a pedestrian cycle engaging despite no pedestrian setting the light into effect.
11:09 a.m.- Caller from Wildwood Street reports there is a set of footprints leading to his front door. Officer Mackey was at location earlier to make a paper service. Party was served in hand.
11:54 a.m. - Caller reports a child in the backseat of a vehicle at Shaw’s Supermarket, 180 Cambridge St. not wearing a seatbelt Officer reports speaking with the operator of that motor vehicle but did not observe any infraction. The owner was advised of the hazards and potential enforcement if this continues.
12:41 p.m. - Burlington Mall security reports a white Corolla with Washington plates has been parked in the lot for an extended period of time. Vehicle also looks like it was involved in a motor vehicle crash. The vehicle, a white Toyota Corolla with Washington registration has considerable front end damage, but appears to be operable. Officers discovered the vehicle appears as if somebody is living out of it. The inside is full to the brim with junk. Officer will come back over the next few days to document and determine if it has been permanently abandoned.
3:08 p.m. - Man reports he left his wallet in Sears at the Burlington Mall on Feb. 3. It had $200 in cash, a credit card, driver’s license, insurance card and green card. Officer’s logged.
4:48 p.m. - Person in station reports receiving phone message from 722-594-6554 stating it was the IRS and that she was being sued by them. Left a call-back number of 202-595-7034. Requested. same logged in case of further contact. The same occurred at 9:30 a.m. today.
5:30 p.m. - Burlington Police were called to Herb Chambers Honda of Burlington, 33 Cambridge St. to assist Waltham Police seeking to speak to an employee. Joshua J. McCarthy, 34 of Waltham, was taken into custody on fugitive from justice warrant stemming from charges in New Hampshire. Waltham Police to transport to their city and perform booking/processing.
6:31 p.m. - Caller from Boulder Driver reports dog from the same street attached her rabbits. Rabbits were rescued by homeowner. Animal Control Officer was notified.
