Nearly 200 Still Lack Power In Burlington After Wednesday Storm
Outages hit overnight, as heavy winds wiped out power for 200,000 across the state; some did not begin until late Thursday.

BURLINGTON, MA — Eversource had no estimates for when power might be restored to some 200 hundred customers in Burlington who lost power after high winds during last night's storm. Burlington was relatively lightly hit, relative to over 200,000 customers across the state, but still two percent of customers lost power. And some of those outages began long after the worst of the winds; some areas still had power until late afternoon, according to Eversource.
Last night Eversource, the state's largest provider, said it was bracing for the storm, but has no estimate on how long repairs might take. One of the biggest issues to getting power restored has to do with having the wind die down enough that crews can safely work on the wires. While winds remain strong, it's too dangerous for crews to use bucket trucks.
Police departments across the state reported downed trees and power lines. In some areas along the coast, wind speeds exceeded 90 miles per hour. Around Burlington, they peaked in the 50s.
