Saheli, Support and Friendship for South Asian Women and Families, is holding the 6th Biennial Gala Fundraiser 'Nirbhaya' (Fearless Women)

Saheli, Support and Friendship for South Asian Women and Families, is holding the 6th Biennial Gala Fundraiser ‘Nirbhaya’ (Fearless Women) on Sunday, December 8th, 2019 at the Burlington Marriott Hotel from 3 to 7pm. Over the years, Nirbhaya has a gained a spot in the hearts and minds of the South Asian community. The event will bring together distinguished guests including community leaders, business women and men as well as political leaders.
Saheli fills a niche by providing culturally and linguistically responsive domestic violence services and serves a community of more than 200,000 South Asian residents in Massachusetts. Over the last 23 years we have helped over 5,000 women and families with over 183 survivors in 2018.
Saheli depends on the biennial fundraising gala to help fund Saheli’s economic empowerment and domestic violence services that help survivors pay rent and utilities, buy basic necessities, get driver’s licenses, get professional and computer skills, pay for transport to court or go to a job interview and get other essential support from Saheli. Our last Nirbhaya gala in 2017 was a huge success and this year we hope to do even more! For the first time, Saheli will raise funds to support not only existing programs but scholarships for two South Asian girls to attend college and become more economically independent and reduce the cycle of abuse in families.
