Samaritans Schedule Suicide-Prevention Training In Burlington
The Samaritans will provide information on facts and myths about suicide as well as provide community resources.

From The Town of Burlington: The Samaritans organization, in partnership with the Burlington Volunteer Reserve Corps, would like to invite the public to attend a training entitled “Supporting Those at Risk for Suicide”. The training will take place on October 24, 2018 from 7 - 8:30 pm at Grandview Farm, 55 Center Street, Burlington. Participants will gain knowledge and skills surrounding the topic of suicide and suicide prevention. There will be discussion about how to recognize risk factors and warning signs, how to talk to an individual who may be suicidal, and how to get help for a suicidal person. The Samaritans will provide information on facts and myths about suicide as well as provide community resources from the Samaritans.
The training will be conducted by Rose Cheyette, Manager of Community Education and Outreach at the Samaritans. Rose has been the leader of suicide prevention workshops for youth, adults, and elders. Prior to this role, Rose was a Samaritans helpline volunteer for two years, answering phone calls and text messages on the Samaritans 24/7 helpline. Before joining Samaritans, Rose worked for the Department of Labor and served in the Peace Corps.
