Shaw's Says It Has No Plans To Close Burlington Store
A question posted on a Facebook community group fueled speculation that the store's days were numbered.

BURLINGTON, MA -- A spokeswoman for Shaw's and Star Market told Burlington Patch Tuesday that the company has no plans to close its store in Burlington. Speculation mounted over the weekend after a Burlington resident posed the question about whether or not the store was closing on a closed Facebook group for Burlington residents.
"Shaw’s does not have plans to close this store location," Teresa Edington, the External Communication & Community Relations Manager for Shaw's, said.
It's not the first time the supermarket has been rumored to be closing. As several posters on the forum noted, the Shaw's-is-closing rumor has been circulating for years. They have only intensified in recent months, thanks to the December closing of Roche Brothers in Burlington, which was primarily a victim of decreased sales after Wegman's opened three years ago. A Target is in the works to take over the Roche Brothers space.
