Shoplifting Attempt, Truck Spills Paint in Road, Suspicious Vehicle Cruising Neighborhood and More

The following is a sampling of log entries provided by the Burlington Police Department.
Tuesday, March 31
4:40 a.m. - Caller reports a moderate odor of gas in the area of Purity Springs Road at Pathwoods Avenue. National Grid notified.
8:28 a.m. - Caller reports a paint truck drove down his street (Mountain Road), turned around in his neighbor’s driveway and left area while spilling white paint from the rear of his truck. Police did not see vehicle in question. There was a paint line running from the area of Burlington Street westbound to the area of number 67. Police were unable to locate the vehicle during a search of the area. Requested that dispatch contact DPW to address the paint in the roadway.

12:40 p.m. - Caller reports two men walking through the intersection of 290 Cambridge St. at Winn Street begging for money.
4:38 p.m. - Caller reports a suspicious man walking around 1 Forbes Ave. wearing a bandana around his face. A unit was dispatched to the area, but the individual was gone on arrival.

8:29 p.m. - Caller reports a suspicious vehicle that keeps coming around the Carey Avenue neighborhood. Vehicle has been in and out of the area since about 4 p.m. Car was gone when police arrived. Neighbors were advised to call if vehicle returns.
Wednesday, April 1
7 a.m. - Report of a deceased beaver in the road on 61 Middlesex Turnpike.
2:46 p.m. - Caller reports an unleashed dog running in and out of traffic in the area of the Town Common. The dog was reunited with its owner.
6:48 p.m. - Manager reports a shoplifter attempted to steal merchandise at Anthropologie, 75 Middlesex Turnpike. A unit was dispatched to the area. The suspect removed price tags and security tags from jewelry prior to hiding the items under a table. Party then purchased $1,300 worth of items and advised the staff she would return for those items. Incident occurred approximately 3 p.m. with no items leaving the store. One necklace broken during incident. Purchase cancelled.
