Water Price Hike Approved In Burlington: Reports
The Select Board has approved a water rate hike to make up for revenues lost due to the lingering effects of the pandemic.
BURLINGTON, MA — The Burlington Select Board has approved a 3 percent increase for water rates, according to The Daily Times Chronicle.
This increase is in addition to an original 6.8 percent water rate increase that was approved in 2019. That increase was part of a 10-year plan to generate $3.2 million of additional revenue by 2029, The Daily Times Chronicle reported.
The recently approved increase is due to lower revenues related to the pandemic causing commercial property vacancies in town.
