What's The Most Popular Dog Name In Burlington?
Sorry Rover, sorry Spot: Your names didn't come close to cracking the top 10.
BURLINGTON, MA -- If you live in Burlington and have a dog named Bella or Buddy, you're not alone. Those were the two most popular dog names in town, according to Burlington Town Clerk Amy E. Warfield. Warfield provided Patch with the most popular dog names in Burlington based on current dog registrations with her office.
Warfield provided the list as a national survey was released with the top 10 most popular names for male and female dogs. The chart below shows the top 10, as well as the top 10 names for both genders in Tewksbury.
There are 44 Bella's and 33 Buddy's in Burlington. And there was one name unique to Burlington that didn't make the national list. We're pretty sure where the inspiration for those 23 dogs named Brady came from:

The national survey was conducted by Rover.com, the online network of pet sitters and dog walkers. Key trends uncovered by the survey include:
- The term "fur baby" has clearly gone to a whole new level this year, as 44 percent of dogs were given human names like Max, Molly and Sophie. Other dog owners went in the complete opposite direction, choosing decidedly doggish names like Woofer and Floof.
- While "Game of Thrones" dog names increased by 12 percent this year, it's not the only show dog owners seem to love. "Stranger Things" dog names are also on the rise, with characters Barb and Eleven leading the pack.
- Feminism, the Merriam-Webster word of the year, has definitely carried over into the canine world. Strong women — both real and fictional —like Oprah, Katniss, and Madonna were big this year, and "Wonder Woman" themed names were up by 45 percent.
- Another dog name trend of 2017? The '90s. Lots of owners gave their dogs nostalgic names like Buffy and Nirvana. Plenty have even named their dogs after their favorite Spice Girl (Ginger Spice is the most popular on that front).
