What's Open, Closed In Burlington On Christmas Day

We have everything you need to know, including the trash pick-up schedule for the holiday week.

BURLINGTON, MA -- Burlington Town offices will close for the CHristmas Holiday at 11 a.m. on Friday and not reopen until Wednesday. They will reopen for normal business hours on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The offices will close at 3 pm on Dec. 31 and be closed all day on Jan. 1 for the New Year's Day holiday.

Trash pickup will be delayed one day in each of the next two weeks, with pickups on Friday Dec. 28 and Friday Jan. 4 instead of Thursday.

  • Schools: Closed
  • Libraries: Closed
  • Post Office: Closed
  • Banks: Closed
  • Gas Stations: Open

Here's where it gets tricky. Many restaurants, retail stores, and grocery stores will be closed, but not all. Here are some details on a few to get you started:

Retail stores:

  • CVS
    • Christmas Eve: Most stores open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    • Christmas Day: Most stores open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (excludes stores inside Target).

Supermarkets:

  • Shaw's/Star Market
    • Christmas Eve: Most stores typically close a few hours early
    • Christmas Day: Closed
  • Trader Joe's
    • Christmas Eve: All stores close at 6 p.m.
    • Christmas Day: Closed
  • Whole Foods
    • Christmas Eve: All stores will have limited hours. Hours vary by location.
    • Christmas Day: Closed.
